1. New InterLibrary Borrowing System

On Friday, September 21, SULAIR implemented a new InterLibrary Borrowing system: OCLC's ILLIAD. The new system provides an improved patron interface, increased functionality, and enhanced reporting features.

Patrons will find the ILLIAD request forms on the same Document Delivery Request page as always.

Please join me in congratulating and thanking Rose Harrington, Ronnie Fields, Mary Munill, Alex Rajeff, and Christopher Harris from the Information Center for their work in implementing this new system; and Kam Chan, Deni Wicklund, Tom Cramer, Jon Lavigne, Lauren Scott and Darsi Rueda of DLSS/ACOMP for their technical support and advice during this transition.

2. Art & Architecture Library Open House; “Revues: Vues Rares” Exhibition Opening

The Art and Architecture Library will be hosting an open house on Thursday, October 4th from 3 until 6 pm. The event will be a fun opportunity for the Stanford community to meet the Library’s new staff and to view the inaugural show of its newly established exhibition program, "Revues: Vues Rares: Three Journals of the Parisian Avant-Garde, 1920-1949." Over the course of the exhibition, the displays will be changed weekly to allow for a full view of each journal’s content. A secondary exhibition, featuring the Library’s collection of Guerilla Girls posters, will also be on view during the fall quarter. These ephemera from the 1980s document the activist group’s first actions toward highlighting the New York art world’s gender- and race-based disparities. The posters will be rotated periodically.

In addition, during the open house the Visual Resources Center will highlight its rich digital collections and the Library will screen art videos on its newly installed 42-inch LCD monitor. Refreshments will be served and prizes (art books!) will be awarded to a few lucky students. All are welcome!

3. SULAIR Open House on Wednesday, October 17

Be sure to let your colleagues and our patrons know that there will be a SULAIR Open House on Wednesday, October 17, from 12-4pm.

There will be tables in Green and Meyer highlighting SULAIR's services and resources, including Special Collections, Social Science Data and Software, Academic Computing's Academic Technology Specialist Program, Acquisitions and Cataloging, and many more. Branch and coordinate libraries will also be on hand to showcase their resources.

We'll have tours of Green (led by Michael Keller), and of Meyer's Multimedia Studio and Digital Language Lab, as well as demonstrations of the Robotic Book Scanner. There will be music, jugglers, videos and prizes (including an iPod Nano, courtesy of Apple and the Stanford Bookstore; books by Stanford authors; iTunes gift certificates; and more).

Please check the SULAIR Open House Web site for more information:

4. ***Reference Question of the Week ***

Question: Where can I find India's parliamentary debates for last 10 years?

Answer: The India's parliamentary website(http://loksabha.nic.in/) has the debates from 2004-2007. Since Lok Sabha is India's Parliament name I searched Lok Sabha in Socrates and Melvyl - UC library catalog. I found that UC Berkeley has from 1952-2002 debates in their regional library facility. You should be able to request the debates via our interlibrary loan services. Be sure include as much citation information as you have.

See more reference questions and answers at the Information Center Web site.

To contribute to the Reference Question of the Week feature of SULAIR News, submit your question and answer through the SULAIR News online submission form at: http://sulairnews.stanford.edu/issues/submit/submit.jsp.
