SULAIR is hosting the 34th annual conference of the International Association of Social Science Information Services and Technology (IASSIST). The association's diverse membership of over 300 professionals hail from Africa, the Asia/Pacific region, Canada, Europe and the United States, and work in a range of settings that include data archives, statistical agencies, government departments, research centers, libraries, colleges and universities, and non-profit organizations. This year's conference theme, "Technology of Data: Collection, Communication, Access and Preservation" examines the role of technology and tools in various aspects of the data life cycle. Examples of workshop and session titles include, Supporting Undergrads with Data; Data Discovery and Dissemination: Linking Librarians, Vendors, and Archives; Data Security and Access: Connecting from Afar; and Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow: Data on the Web from Vision to Practice to Sustainability. 3. VRC Collection in ARTstor

I am pleased to announce that Stanford's Visual Resources Center is now a participating member of the ARTstor digital library. Approximately 23,000 out of the VRC's overall collection of 43,000 digital images are now available through ARTstor. ARTstor (http://www.artstor.org/index.shtml) can be found under "Art, Architecture and Design" on the SULAIR databases page. As we continue to produce new images and replace old images with higher quality versions, we hope to expand our ARTstor presence in the future. These 23,000 images, along with the Maps of Africa collection, are only available to Stanford viewers who connect to ARTstor. For the most current collection of digital images please visit our ImageBase at vrc.stanford.edu.
