1. Cyrillic Script Data Now in Socrates
Even though the Russian word for unicorn appeared written in Cyrillic in an article in SULAIR News announcing that Socrates was now able to display non-Latin scripts, Cyrillic script data was not added to catalog records created at Stanford until recently.

This is gradually changing as Slavic catalogers in the Metadata Development Unit of the Metadata Department just started inputting parallel Cyrillic fields in catalog records for works in Russian, Belarusian, Bulgarian, Macedonian, Serbian, and Ukrainian. We plan to create annually about 2,000 records containing Cyrillic data. This is an important first step in enhancing all records in the SULAIR catalog to make Slavic materials accessible in the original languages (in addition to transliteration).
A group of dedicated colleagues from Area Studies Resource Group, Digital Library Systems and Services, and Metadata departments is currently testing catalog records with Cyrillic data in the public catalog before this new search option is offered to all Socrates users.

Question: How can I find information about Stanford's policy on copyright and
fair use? How can I find information about copyright and fair use more
generally?
Answer: Two excellent sources are the Stanford Libraries Copyright & Fair Use site and the Office of the General Counsel's FAQ page.
You can find more reference questions and answers at the Information
