1. OskiCat Replaces Pathfinder at UCB: Web Page Updates Needed
OskiCat is now the UC Berkeley library catalog. It replaced Pathfinder and GLADIS on June 24, 2009. The new URL is:
http://oskicat.berkeley.edu/
If SULAIR Web pages that you update for your departments or units include UCB library catalog/Pathfinder references, please update them as soon as possible. Top-level pages in the SULAIR Web site have been updated.
For more information about the new catalog, go to OskiCat.

2. Engineering Library Exhibit and Brochure Highlight Donors
Kathleen Gust has prepared a brochure, Engineering Library Donors: Giving for the Future, to highlight the Engineering Library donors with background information on the donors and examples of the bookplates. The exhibit case in the library also has examples of the bookplates and copies of some of the books recently acquired with donor funds.
As we review our collections in anticipation of their move to the new engineering library, we are aware the shift to electronic formats makes the contribution of our donors less obvious. This is an attempt to recognize their ongoing generosity. We are fortunate to have many supporters, some dating back to very early in the University's history. The Engineering Library website also includes information and a link to a copy of the color brochure.

3. Sarah Lester Publishes Article in Ambidextrous - Stanford University Journal of Design
Sarah was asked by the editors of Ambidextrous to write an article on the Prelinger Library in San Francisco. Her article, "Using Serendipity to Navigate the Stacks," profiles the Prelinger Library, a unique collection of books, journals and ephemera organized in an organic, relationship-based system. You can read the article online at:

4. *** Reference Question of the Week ***
Question: Do students maintain their library privileges over the summer? What about incoming students?
Answer: Returning Students who:
- Have not yet graduated
- Were registered during the previous Spring Quarter
and
- Have not filled out paperwork to "stop out" for the upcoming Fall Quarter
maintain full library privileges and access throughout the summer.
This includes access to library buildings, borrowing privileges and off-campus access to library resources, such as Electronic Journals and Databases.
Incoming students (Graduate and Undergraduate) who have
been accepted to Stanford, but have not yet started classes, will have
full library privileges at the beginning of their first quarter at
Stanford.
Incoming students are welcome to visit many Stanford Libraries before they begin classes at Stanford, by registering as a visitor at Green Library. The Stanford Libraries' catalog, Searchworks, is also open to all for searching the Stanford Libraries' collections.
You can find more reference questions and answers at the Information Center Web site.
To contribute to the Reference Question of the Week feature of SULAIR News, submit your question
and answer through the SULAIR News online submission form.
